ORLANDO
April 26, 2008
By Denise Ostrowski

Travel began from Mosinee on Northwest Airlines with a change
of planes in Minneapolis. Arrival to Orlando at 730p and
picked up a Thrifty Rental Car and drove to the Radisson
Celebration. Be sure you check with your personal auto insurance
to be sure you are covered on car rentals. The agents at
the car companies will try to sell you additional insurance
which usually is not necessary to take out if you are covered.
Checked into hotel and decided to go get something to eat
and relax. Great location and close drive to shops and entertainment
areas.
25 Apr -Disney World -Price
of admission for one day is currently $75.00 they do offer
special prices for extended days and passes to the other
parks as well. It is amazing to see how well everything
is kept clean and so colorful. Enjoyed a fun filled day.
Using the fast pass was a nice feature that allows you to
swipe your card and then come back at the time listed and
don't have to stand in line long at all.
It truly is a dream come true. Let's you
become the kid you are inside.
26 Apr -Sea World - Price
of admission for one day is $65. Weather was beautiful and
was able to attend many shows. Extremely busy but it was
a Saturday and lots of families.
27 Apr - A day to drive
to the beach. From Kissimmee to Daytona Beach the drive
was approximately 1 hour. First stop was the Daytona Internation
Speedway. They offer daily tours with a birds-ey e view
of the track and the 31-degree high banked turns and offer
the IMAX Experience. They are open daily from 9a.m. - 5
p.m. Parked at a parking ramp near the beach. The Hilton
Ocean Walk Village has many shops in the area walked thru
the lobby and to the beach for miles of walking. Stopped
in some of the hotels to see the lobby areas and check out
there specailty shops. Dinner was at the Bubba Gump Shrimp
Company for a great beach front dining experience. That
evening drove to downtown Disney and were able to see The
Contempory and Fort Wilderness property. Lots of shops and
great people watching.
28 Apr - Toured the facilities
at the Radisson with Ada the Sales Manager. I also went
to several hotels near the Radisson to check them out. The
Comfort Suites Maingate East was in the same area and the
facilities seemed to suit a families needs with reasonable
priced rooms. The Holiday Inn Maingate East and Holiday
Villas are nearby as well. The lobby areas are all very
comfortable and was met by friendly staff that allowed me
to tour the building after showing them my IATAN card.
Checked into the Fairfield Inn Airport
Hotel in the evening - many restaurants in this area and
many hotels to choose from. I returned the Thrifty rental
car and was able to walk 3 blocks back to the hotel. Checked
out the business center and printed off boarding passes
for the flight in the morning. Set up shuttle service for
morning pick up at 535am and went to the airport for the
return flight home. You really need to allow 2hrs prior
to check in at Orlando Airport. By the time you pass thru
security and the scanner, walk to your gate it was almost
time for boarding. For elderly or travelers with difficulty
walking in Minneapolis if you are connecting from CWA -request
wheelchair assistance. The electric carts are limited and
I heard of some elderly people missing a flight because
the connection was not long enough and were unable to get
assistance.
It was a very enjoyable trip and I gained some good insight
on traveling.
